Last Week for Hybrid Learning
At a Special Board of Education meeting held on Thursday, September 24th, the decision was made to move forward with a return to full-time, face-to-face instruction beginning Monday, October 5th. The Board of Education will hold another special board meeting next Tuesday, September 29th at 4:00 p.m. to officially approve the full-time restart date as well as an updated school calendar. REMOTE LEARNING PARENT NIGHT: Please join the Zoom Meeting posted in the "Middle/High School Links and Extra Activities" for next Tuesday, September 29th at 6:30 p.m. for a refresher on all things Apex (e.g., how to use the calendar, tracking attendance, getting help, etc.). There will also be time for Q & A. Hope to see you there!
REMOTE LEARNING AP ASSISTANCE: High schoolers taking AP courses, please join the Zoom Meeting posted in the "High School Links and Extra Activities" for next Wednesday. September 30th at 10:00 a.m. We will talk about expectations for AP coursework, examine how to use the grading rubrics, see samples of AP essays, and more. There will also be time for Q & A. See you bright and early (at least for some of you)!
REMOTE LEARNERS MATH ASSISTANCE: Starting this week, High School math teachers will be available to assist our remote learners. Math Homework/Help Club is held every day after school, and the schedule is below. If a student is interested in getting help with online health, please contact the teacher below based off availability. The teachers can then work with students to set up remote learning assistance:

MARTIN LUTHER KING JR ART, ESSAY, AND MEDIA CONTEST: The Ohio Civil Rights Commission is pleased to announce its annual statewide Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Art, Essay & Multimedia Contest. This contest is intended to encourage students to reflect upon Dr. King’s life, philosophy, and impact on the Civil Rights Movement and present-day America. It is meant to challenge students to think about how civil rights and diversity affect their lives and how they can continue the work of Dr. King in their own way. In Case You Missed It
PreACT: On October 16th, all 10th graders will have the opportunity to take the PreACT. Each year, high school juniors and seniors take the ACT test to gain insights into their college and career readiness. PreACT, targeted to grade 10, gives students practice with the ACT and empowers them, their parents, and educators with these valuable insights even sooner.
All in-person sophomores will be taking the PreACT on October 16th in lieu of classes. Any virtual sophomore that is interested in coming into the building to be part of this opportunity should contact Ms. Madden at madden.c@dpccsd.org no later than October 2nd.
MOBILE DENTIST: The Mobile Dentist will be available to students November 17th and 19th. For more information, please see this flyer!
SOCIAL MEDIA INFORMATIONAL SESSIONS: Thanks to PreventionFIRST! and Lakota Schools for promoting an opportunity for parents to engage in a Community Collaborative for "The Impact of Social Media and Technology on Youth." This workshop series begins October 1st and consists of 6 Virtual sessions. If you're interested, please visit this website for more information.
Reminder for Wednesday Blended Learning Days: Starting September 16th, teachers will be in the building holding "office hours" and offering instructional learning opportunities for students. Students are expected to be engaged in their learning on Wednesdays as well. Please see this document for more information as it relates to Wednesday Processes and Schedules.
