Amity Elementary

What's New?

From the Desk of Mr. Drouhard

Amity Families,

It feels like we are approaching the first day of school all over again on Monday! We are excited to have our students back in person for five days in a row, and have been preparing for this day all summer. Many of our routines are the same as what we established during hybrid learning, with some minor tweaks here and there. One of those tweaks is dismissal, which I write about further down in the Amity Minute. We are prepared to have a good week!

Take Care,

Josh

2nd-6th Grade Dismissal Time Change

With transitioning to all of our students coming back on a daily basis, we need to adjust the time that our 2nd-6th graders dismiss to get everyone picked up in a timely manner. We will have 2nd-6th dismiss from their rooms at 3:00 to meet our parents at our designated walker pick up area or west parking lot (We previously were dismissing from rooms at 3:05 for these grade levels). K-1st will keep the same dismissal time of 3:00.

Please display your Student Pick-Up Cards to help us speed the dismissal process and listen to our staff that is directing traffic regarding where to pull up to. We really appreciate your help!

Entry to Amity

I just want to remind our parents and students that we have four entry points into Amity Elementary this year (Please see our AM Entries to Amity document below).  All students will continue to go through a wellness check prior to entering the building. We feel we can get all of our students into the building in a timely manner if all entrances are used. Please note the entrance on the southeast side of the building can be used for our older car riders who are dropped off in our east parking lot.

Amity Conferences

Amity parent teacher conferences will be occurring on Thursday, October 29th from 1:00-8:00 p.m. and Friday, October 30th from 8:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. Our conferences will be held virtually or over the phone. Information regarding sign ups will be coming out in the upcoming weeks.

Tuesday, November 3rd- Remote Learning Day

Tuesday, November 3rd will be a district wide remote learning day. All students (K-12) will remain at home and engaged in learning activities assigned by their teacher.

Outdoor Recess

With a return to cooler temperatures, please remember to send your child to school with appropriate outdoor attire for recess. We are working hard to go out to recess daily, especially as it allows for a time that our students can take a socially distanced mask break. Our recesses are 30 minutes in length this year so it is important that our students be comfortable while they are outside.

"Sock"-tober

During the month of October, the Amity staff and students will be collecting NEW socks for the Deer Park Clothing Room located in the Holmes Building. Students, staff and community members are invited to drop off new pairs/ packages of socks. We are in need of infant, child and adult sizes.

We are looking for…

  • sports socks
  • fun socks
  • fuzzy socks,
  • any kinds of socks.

To end the “Sock”-tober collection, students and staff will have a “CRAZY SOCK” day on October 28th.

October 16th- Teacher Records Day

October 16th is a teacher records day. Students in grades 1st-6th will report this day for a ½ day of school and will be released at 11:00 AM. We will not be having AM or PM kindergarten classes on October 16th. Kindergarten teachers will be preparing a small learning activity to be completed at home that day.
