Race, Equity, and Understanding Series: Having the Hard Conversations

Community Conversation

Dear Deer Park Parents, Students, and Community Members -

On Wednesday, December 16 at 6:00pm, Deer Park Schools will be holding its second virtual community conversation on Race, Equity, and Understanding.

As a school district, we are committed to helping create positive change in our community and in our schools through open and honest dialogue and discourse. Please join us alongside our moderator, Katrice Quitter, who will discuss "Having the Hard Conversations."

Program Description:

The world around us is changing at a rapid pace and our children regardless of their age(s) are processing all that happening around them. How do you engage with your children around critical topics and issues that may come up? Join us to learn and practice ways that we can be intentional and developmentally appropriate in discussing sensitive and difficult topics with kids. Learning how to communicate and have critical conversations can bring to the surface a range of emotions and fears, but it's essential to start somewhere. The more that we practice--the better we become! So, join us for an evening of getting comfortable with the uncomfortable!

If you are interested in participating, please fill out the linked form below to RSVP. Once you RSVP, we will send you a link to our Zoom meeting.
