Dear Deer Park Families:
As we near the end of the first academic semester, we want to take a moment to thank all of you for your flexibility and support as we have had to navigate the difficulties of having school during a national pandemic. We know this has not been easy on anyone, especially our students and their families.
We want to make you aware of our plans for the beginning of the second semester. Families who have chosen the in-person schooling model for the second semester will begin school on January 4th at both Amity and the Jr./Sr. High School in a hybrid model. We will do this for one week. Both buildings will have students follow the same schedule; “A” day on Monday/Tuesday, Remote on Wednesday, and “B” day on Thursday/Friday.
On Monday, January 11th, all students in grades 1 - 12 will report for full time, in-person classes. Kindergarten will remain on their current schedule for the remainder of the year.
All families who chose the virtual option for second semester will begin their virtual classes on Monday, January 4th.
As with the first semester, patience and flexibility will be key for the second semester until we get through this pandemic. Our schooling model can change very quickly based on the COVID data within the district. We will continue to communicate any new developments to all of you as soon as we can.
Sincerely,
Jay Phillips
Superintendent
