COVID-19 Teacher Vaccine Information

DP Logo

Dear Deer Park Families,

As you may have heard, last week Governor DeWine announced the anticipated scheduled dates for COVID-19 vaccinations for teachers and school personnel. Deer Park was listed in the rollout as a Week 2 distribution, meaning we are anticipating vaccinations during the week of February 8.

With that information, I wanted to give you a couple of planned schedule updates in an effort to best accommodate the vaccinations for school district personnel.
While the exact date of our first vaccine is still unknown, we wanted to let our families know for planning purposes that we will plan to have a district wide remote learning day on the day of Deer Park’s first vaccine distribution.

We also plan to have remote learning days on the day of the second vaccine distribution as well as the day after the second vaccine distribution. We will have a remote learning day the day after the second vaccine distribution because of the reported side effects associated with the second dose of the vaccine. Depending on which vaccine we receive, the second dose will happen either three weeks from the date of the first vaccine if we receive Pfizer or four weeks from the date of the first vaccine if we receive Moderna.

As soon as we are aware of the firm dates from our vaccination partner, Mercy Health, we will send another email communicating the exact days that we will be remote.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact your building administration.

Sincerely,

Jay Phillips
Superintendent
