Deer Park Jr/Sr High School Wildcat Weekly March 21st, 2021

Last Week Before Spring Break!

Good evening,

We are looking forward to a great week of classes before we take a well-deserved Spring Break!  Our students continue to work hard in the 4th quarter, do their best every day, and even prepare for upcoming State and Advanced Placement Tests.  We know our families have been hard at work supporting their children at home, and our teachers and staff continue to find ways to connect and help your student grow.

Thanks for all you do, and have a great week!

Sincerely,

Shane Hartley

Principal, Deer Park Jr/Sr High School

What's New

PROM AND COMMENCEMENT CEREMONY INFORMATION

Last Friday, we released some information about our 2021 Prom as well as our 2021 Graduation Ceremony.  For a link to that announcement, please click here!  More details to come!

TECHNOLOGY/CHROMEBOOKS FOR TESTING

After Spring Break, we will have about a week before we begin our State testing.  The first day of testing will be Tuesday, April 13th, and this will be the first time that we've done our State testing with students being issued their own Chromebooks.  While this is a few weeks away, we want to be sure to start giving our families a "heads up" that we will need our students to make sure their Chromebooks are fully charged and ready for our test days.  More information to come!

STREAMING MUSIC CONCERTS

We were excited to announce that we will be streaming virtual music concerns later this month (March 24th and March 25th).  For the press release, please click here.

Additionally, our music department has put together a flyer with more information.  Please click here for access to that additional information.

ATTENTION JUNIOR PARENTS/GUARDIANS/CAREGIVERS: IMMUNIZATIONS NEEDED FOR 12TH GRADE

All students entering the 12th grade are required to get certain vaccinations, per the Ohio Department of Health. Here is a link to more information.

REMINDERS FOR MASKS

Parents/caregivers: Please help us by reminding your student to continue to wear masks at school AND to properly keep them on throughout the day.  For more details, please click here for a message from our Superintendent, Mr. Phillips.

STUDENT FEES

In the past, we have often been able to use events like Homecoming and Prom to help parents/guardians remember to pay student fees.  With no Prom or Homecoming over the last year, however, unfortunately many student fees have gone unpaid.  Please consider this a friendly reminder to check and pay for your child's student fees.  Thank you for your help!  Here is a link to the PaySchools website, and please feel free to reach out to the front office (513-891-0010) for any help or questions.  We greatly appreciate it!

In Case You Missed It

STATE TESTING INFORMATION FROM OUR COUNSELING DEPARTMENT!

Our State Testing season begins one week after Spring Break, and it will be here before we know it!  Please read over this short piece of information from our counseling department!

A NOTE FOR SCHOOLOGY GRADE REPORTS FOR RETURNING STUDENTS

We want to make sure that students and families are aware of how Schoology "calculates" course grades.  Students who were 100% virtual in the first semester will have a Schoology grade that will show a "Course Grade." Please know that we don't use that as we enter in grades.  Instead, we only use the Quarter Grades.
