What's New?
From the Desk of Mr. Drouhard
Dear Amity Families,
We had a great first week back from Spring Break! Our students and staff picked up right where they left off and kept on rolling with their academic progress. We were also able to get our 5th graders out to Camp Kern on two day trips so that they could experience some of the magic that it brings. They came back with smiles and stories to be told! Looking forward to more great weeks moving forward!
Take Care,
Josh

Virtual Student Spotlight
Amity online learners recently got a special virtual field trip presented by the Cincinnati Art Museum. On their docent-led tour, students saw art depicting animals from many different time periods and cultures. They saw how art can represent and elicit different emotions and ideas from artists and viewers.

Thank You For A Successful Kids Heart Marathon!
During the month of March in Physical Education class, our 1-6th graders were learning more about how their hearts work, ways in which they can keep their heart healthy and strong, and a variety of jump roping skills that can be used as an inexpensive heart healthy activity all while raising money to help kids with heart complications through our Kids Heart Challenge. I am proud to say that our Amity Elementary students goal was to raise $3,300 and we in turn raised $8,402.03 for the American Heart Association! Way to go! Pictured below, is 1st grader, Anastasia Tinker who raised $1,001.25 and 3rd grader, Sarah Barnes who raised $1,180.29 were our top two fundraisers. All of our students and families that participated, I cannot say thank you enough. Every bit helps! WAY TO GO!

Spring Ohio State Test Dates For In Person Students
We will be taking the Ohio State Test this spring in grades 3-6. We want our students to show what they know, so it will be important that they come in with a solid breakfast and plenty of rest. We will continue to prepare them daily for these assessments. Should your child be out on one of these dates, make ups will be administered as soon as possible.

Warmer Weather and Dress Code
With a return of warmer weather we pull out our children’s shorts, skirts, and shirts from the fall. Please take a moment to have your child try them all on before sending them to school. Our students have grown a lot since they last put them on, and we want to make sure they fall within our dress code for length and coverage. Thanks for your help!

6th Grade Remote Learning Academy Information
Middle school students (grades 6-8): If you would like to work with a high school tutor, please come to Wednesday Help Sessions from 9:50-10:30 by scrolling down to Wednesday's activities and clicking on the link in the Middle School Links and Extra Activities. Find out who the tutors are by watching their videos here: Meet the High School Tutors. These videos are also posted in BAND and in the "Middle School Links and Extra Activities."
Writing Circles Opportunity
Please see the flyer below for an opportunity for students in grades 4-6 to get involved in a writing group put on by Women Writing for a change.

Attendance
Please remember to call our attendance line (513-891-2414) or email Betty Jung (jung.b@dpccsd.org), our attendance secretary, if your student is going to be out.
This is especially important with the number of people that are either required to quarantine by the health department, or quarantining on their own accord. We need to be aware of these situations outside of school so that we can appropriately mark the attendance and provide guidance from the district if necessary. Thanks for all your help!
Amity Cat News
The Amity Cat News is up and running. Our student led morning announcement is scheduled to post every morning at 7:45 so your student can stay connected with what is going on whether they are at school or at home. The link to the youtube channel is below
