What's New?
From the Desk of Mr. Drouhard
Dear Amity Families,
I was doing crosswalk duty on Galbraith this week when I spotted a parent in a car across the street. She was just sitting there with no child in the back. It was after 7:45, and typically student drop-offs are very quick, as parents have to get their day started. After a couple more minutes of sitting there, her 3rd grader rode up on his bike. He stopped and put down his kickstand and got into the car. They had a quick chat and he gave her a hug before leaving to start his day at Amity.
I share this story, because I think it shows the growth that our students make while at Amity. The student had proven that he could be trusted to make the trip on his own, which I’m sure was done through many small tests. It shows the gradual release that parents give to children in allowing them to be a little more independent but also providing support. I have no doubt there will be many solo bike trips in this young man’s future!
Seeing their day start this way made my day!
Take Care,
Josh

Amity Virtual Art Show!
Since we weren't able to do Fine Arts Night this year, Art to Remember has provided us with our own virtual art show where you can view your child's favorite artwork from this year. Click on the link below to view your child's beautiful work. From this link, you can start shopping for keepsakes with your child's work printed on it using the online code that was sent home on your Art to Remember order form earlier this week. Hope you enjoy! - Mrs. Laine Amity Art Teacher
Amity’s Scholastic Book Fair
Monday, April 26th - Friday April 30th
During School Hours - Amity PDC
New this year: eWallet. Add funds from home and students can use those funds to pay for their books at the book fair. Cash is always welcome, but if you're worried about sending them with cash, this is another option.
Also, all our virtual students and families can shop from the comfort of your homes. This option is available to anyone, not only virtual students.
Both eWallet and online shopping can be found by clicking on the link above, and scrolling down.
For a quick glance of what books are available, please click on the book fair flyer, attached. This is the same one that was sent home with students. I've also attached the wish list that students can fill out when they come to preview the book fair with their class. (It also explains the eWallet.) I will have the wish list sheets available when they come with their class. Online shopping is open now. eWallet can be set up now, as well.
If you have any questions, please email me at oiler.h@dpccsd.org .
Thank You,
Mrs, Oiler

6th Grade Remote Learning Academy Information
Middle school students (grades 6-8): If you would like to work with a high school tutor, please come to Wednesday Help Sessions from 9:50-10:30 by scrolling down to Wednesday's activities and clicking on the link in the Middle School Links and Extra Activities. Find out who the tutors are by watching their videos here: Meet the High School Tutors. These videos are also posted in BAND and in the "Middle School Links and Extra Activities."
Attendance
Please remember to call our attendance line (513-891-2414) or email Betty Jung (jung.b@dpccsd.org), our attendance secretary, if your student is going to be out.
This is especially important with the number of people that are either required to quarantine by the health department, or quarantining on their own accord. We need to be aware of these situations outside of school so that we can appropriately mark the attendance and provide guidance from the district if necessary. Thanks for all your help!
Amity Cat News
The Amity Cat News is up and running. Our student led morning announcement is scheduled to post every morning at 7:45 so your student can stay connected with what is going on whether they are at school or at home. The link to the youtube channel is below
