What's New?
From the Desk of Mr. Drouhard
Dear Amity Families,
We have some fun events planned as we head down the stretch to the last day of school! The PTO is graciously providing all the students a Kona Ice treat for making it a great year on Tuesday. We also have our 6th grade social this Friday to celebrate our outgoing 6th graders. Lastly, Mrs. Fowler has organized field days that are taking place on Amity’s campus and is run by grade band teachers. We are looking forward to our last two weeks together!
Take Care,
Josh

No Deer Park Remote Academy for 2021-2022 School Year
Due to a lack of interest from our families, Deer Park Schools will not be offering the Remote Academy for the 2021-2022 school year. We look forward to welcoming back all of our students for five-day per week, in-person learning in the fall!
In the months ahead, we will be watching for the latest state guidance on health and safety protocols and adapting as necessary. We will continue to accommodate students with special health concerns, as we have in prior years. Families with specific concerns should reach out to their building principal.
4th Quarter Awards
We will recognize our students that received a 4th quarter academic award on Wednesday, May 26th. Unfortunately we can’t invite parents into the building to view the awards ceremony due to COVID19 safety measures. We are working to provide an individual picture of the students who receive an award. Following the ceremony, teachers will be reaching out by phone, email, or a note to inform you of why the awarded student received the honor.
Kindergarten Students Last Day of School
The last day of Kindergarten classes for AM and PM kindergarten will be Wednesday, May 26th. We wanted both groups to celebrate their last day on the same day, and go into summer as a class! They had a great year!
6th Grade Social
The Deer Park PTO is happy to share that we will be having a Sixth Grade Social this year! Although it's going to be happening soon, we've confirmed the social will be on Friday, May 21st from 7-9 p.m. for all current 6th graders.
In preparation, here are the details about the dance:
-
We understand that there are some that might not be comfortable having their students come to the dance, and we completely understand, but please know that we will be taking ALL precautions to keep everyone safe.
-
Masks will be worn at all times.
-
We will have numerous stations for hand sanitizing.
-
Snacks will be provided, but students will have to step into the courtyard area to eat their snacks.
-
Students should arrive through the main entrance at Amity at 7:00pm to check-in, and should be picked up at the main entrance at 9:00pm. Please make sure you are ON TIME for pick-up. NO student will be able to walk home from the dance.
If you have any questions or concerns, please email the Deer Park PTO at dppto2012@gmail.com.
Water Bottles
Please help us by sending your child to school daily with a water bottle. While we have disposable bottles in case of emergencies, we have some students that are relying on these disposable water bottles. I know it is one more thing to pack in the morning, but we appreciate your help!

Reminders For 6th Graders In Deer Park Virtual Academy
As we near the end of the school year, some of you have forgotten to complete journals, activities, explore assignments, projects, etc. from units you have already moved past, and we want to be sure you earn the highest grade you can.
By the following due dates, you will need to complete late missing assignments in order to earn points on them. Otherwise, the grades will change to zero.
In some classes, certain lessons have been omitted from the program, and due dates have been spread across the quarter. As long as you are meeting the due dates in your Apex calendar, you do not need to be concerned about the late work due dates listed below. The due dates below are only for assignments that you previously skipped and are now overdue.
You should already have completed late missing assignments for Unit 1. Here are the remaining due dates:
For grades 6-11:
By 5/7, please complete all late Units 2-3 missing work to earn a grade.
By 5/14, please complete all late Unit 4 missing work to earn a grade.
By 5/21, please complete all late Unit 5 missing work to earn a grade.
If you need help figuring out how to do any of this missing work, please pop into one of the help sessions noted in High School Links and Extra Activities and Middle School Links and Extra Activities. You may also email or BAND-message Ms. Apke or Ms. Hibbett anytime for help.

Attendance
Please remember to call our attendance line (513-891-2414) or email Betty Jung (jung.b@dpccsd.org), our attendance secretary, if your student is going to be out.
This is especially important with the number of people that are either required to quarantine by the health department, or quarantining on their own accord. We need to be aware of these situations outside of school so that we can appropriately mark the attendance and provide guidance from the district if necessary. Thanks for all your help!
