Deer Park Preschool
There are still openings for the 2021-22 school year for preschool students to attend the PM session at Amity Elementary. Sessions are Monday - Friday. Preschoolers that are under the age of 4 can find information about Headstart programming on the same district website link below.

APlus Summer Program Concludes
Over 20 students completed an intense 3-week Summer Academic Academy in our "APlus" program this week. Students focussed on refining English and Math skills to prepare for the upcoming school year, all on a voluntary basis.

Sunny Days Are Here!
Dear Amity Families,
School is out, but learning is still in! We are wrapping up the first session of our Amity Summer Academy. It is heartwarming to see students jumping out of their cars with smiles on their faces beaming with eagerness to come into the building. While I travel through the hallways, hearing student laughter and lively academic discussions is like music to my ears. This week, Mr. Drouhard is taking a much-earned family vacation, so I have the pleasure of capturing this week’s building update.
There have been many nuggets of goodness have been seen this week including witnessing a courageous student read aloud to her peers and students problem solve and encourage each other while they play a math game. As an administrator working in the building during a typical summer, it usually is a bit too quiet for my liking, so I've been loving having students here!
With that, I also hope that our students and families are having wonderful experiences making summer memories. As a kid, there was nothing better than hearing the jingle of the ice cream truck coming down the road or taking a carefree bike ride around the block. I’m thankful that the weather has cooperated to aid in such memory making! Wishing all of our students and families a continued safe and rejuvenating summer.

To wrap up insect studies in Amity Summer Academy, students in 2nd grade built their own bugs that met specific criteria to be called insects.
Amity Summer Academy Continues
Session one of Amity Summer Academy has officially concluded! The second session will begin this week through July 1. As a reminder, morning session runs from 9:00-11:00 a.m and afternoon session are from noon-2:00 p.m. Below is a photo of Amity students and Mr. Vample celebrating the end of the first session with some ice cream!

Save the Date: Launch 2021 | Friday, July 30
Two years ago, and for two-years running, Deer Park Schools and our community organization OneDeerPark hosted a summer festival called Launch, that provided our students with back-to-school supplies, haircuts, food, games and prizes all at no charge to the families. Everything was completely FREE! While COVID obviously put a halt on our momentum last year, we are back up and running this year and looking to make it our best event yet!
Thanks to local sponsors and OneDeerPark, this festival-like event will feature carnival games, prizes, popcorn, snow cones, cotton candy, a dunk tank and so, so much more!
Come out, grab a burger or hot dog, play a game or two, and get a fresh cut to get ready for the start of the 2021-22 school year! It's sure to be a great event for the entire Deer Park community!

Updated Dates: Safe, Seen, and Heard Presentation
Anyone else feel like they are in survival mode these days? Do you ever have full, happy days where you forget the chaos of the outside (or inside) world?
Either way, we are all in the thick of it, and one thing that makes it tougher is trying to do it all alone. So, let’s not try to do it alone. In this two-session series we will be inviting families to come together in a supportive learning environment in order to engage with one another with practices that help us not just survive in trying times, but thrive.
We all have the capacity to cultivate safer relationships with ourselves and others. The key is practice. And practicing within the context of community makes it that much sweeter.

ACT Summer Program
This summer, Deer Park Schools will host a pair of FREE sessions to provide ACT prep courses for rising Juniors and Seniors.
Get yourself prepped and ready for the ACT with our ACT Summer Boot Camp. Deer Park will host two sessions staffed by Deer Park employees.

2021-22 Amity Shuttle Transportation Survey
We will be bringing back the district shuttle for Amity Elementary students for the 2021-22 school year. We would like to collect some brief information from our families regarding the shuttle.
This information is for our planning purposes only. We will release the actual shuttle application form with all the details pertaining to the shuttle later this summer.
