Calling all Deer Park Alumni! Are you looking for a way to give back to your alma mater? Would you like to help current high school student find their path? You're in luck! Deer Park is proud to announce the creation of our alumni network, a project designed to help connect graduates with current students who are looking for post-high school guidance.
How it works:
Current students will be connected with willing alumni who have experience in or knowledge of careers, colleges/universities, and activities that our high schoolers are interested in pursuing after they graduate. The goal is for alumni to share their knowledge with our students to help them make more informed decisions regarding life after graduation.
Your commitment:
The great thing about our alumni network is that you can put as much time into it as you and your student partner need or feel necessary. There are no specific requirements, though we do ask that if you sign up, you be willing to spend at least a bit of time answering questions for any students that reach out to you.
Getting Started:
Your first step is to fill out the survey (link found below) letting us know what areas you feel comfortable discussing with students. This could include, but is certainly not limited to, careers/jobs you have experience with, colleges you have attended, and branches of the military you have served in. This could also include any out of the ordinary life activities you've been involved in like study abroad, continuing extracurriculars (music, drama, sports) after high school, being a collegiate student-athlete, or transitioning from community college to four-year college. The sky is the limit!
Next Steps:
Once you have filled out the survey, we will begin building our database. Our goal is to get the alumni network up and running be the beginning of the 2020-2021 school year. Be on the lookout for email with updates!
