Leader Academy

Deer Park Schools is filled with history, programs, and extracurricular activities that the average community member may not know about. “Deer Park: Did You Know?” will be a new feature we’ll be rolling out each Tuesday and Thursday to tell the story of Deer Park. Each week, we’ll feature two different hidden gems of Deer Park. Welcome to, “Deer Park: Did You Know?”

Chick-fil-A Leader Academy

Did you know that Deer Park Jr./Sr. High School students are some of more than 110,000 students in American participating in the Chick-fil-A Leader Academy program? This program, which has more than 1,050 participating schools across the country is focused on creating young leaders through teamwork, innovation, and communication.

Participants are selected through an application process and then participate in a monthly curriculum called, "Leader Labs" which focus on creating an impact through action. Each year, the students create a pair of Impact Project to make a difference in the community. In December, the "Do Good December" project allows students to apply what they've learned by planning and implementing a service project for community members in need.

Last year, Deer Park Jr./Sr. High School students created goodie bags for both the staff and residents of Wickshire Senior Living Community, as they struggled with the effects and quarantines of the COVID-19 pandemic. In the spring, the same students worked with Hamilton County Department of Heath to host a vaccination clinic for the residents of Deer Park.
