What's New?
Dear Amity Families,
Our week at Amity was highlighted by our Veterans Day Tribute. The entire school came down for the rehearsal on Wednesday to support our 2nd graders in their performance and the Veterans that it was for. Our 2nd graders then welcomed our veterans on Thursday for the actual performance. They did not disappoint, and put on a show for all the veterans in attendance! Our veterans are such noble people, and we are lucky to have them as role models within our community!
This coming week we are excited to host our Harvest Night at Amity. Please make sure to check out the details below. We’d love to see you on Thursday!
Thanks,
Josh

Harvest Night
We are excited to announce that we will be hosting our Fall Harvest Night on Thursday, November 18th. Please come dressed in your favorite fall attire to celebrate with us. Flannel, vests, sweaters, or anything that makes you feel warm and cozy on a cold day! Please feel free to send your students to school on Thursday in this attire as well!
Harvest night runs from 6:00-7:30 with a variety of events spread throughout Amity Elementary. From 6:00-7:00 there will be literacy games and activities spread throughout the building and run by our Amity teachers. At 7:00 the 3rd grade class will hold a musical performance in the gym.
Our book fair will be open as well for purchases in the Amity library. All proceeds from the book fair go back to purchasing books for our library at Amity.
We look forward to seeing you for this amazing event.
Amity Book Fair
The Amity Fall Book Fair is next week, November 15 - November 19. Students will have the chance to shop during their library time. Please make sure your child(ren) brings their money with them on their library day. If you would like to bypass sending cash to school, you can add money to their e-Wallet or purchase books online here:
The book fair will also be open during Harvest Night, although don't be surprised if stock/availability is low. Also, due to Covid shipping delays, some books on the fliers may not be available at the fair. I will do my best to make sure we have as much stock as possible for the entire week. Please email Hollie Oiler, our librarian, at oiler.h@dpccsd.org with any questions.
Vaccine Clinic
Deer Park Schools will be hosting an optional vaccine clinic for children ages 5-11 at Amity Elementary on Tuesday, November 23rd from 4:30-7:30 p.m. Any parent who would like to have their child vaccinated may attend this walk-in clinic. Children will be receiving the first of two Pfizer vaccine doses that will be given three weeks apart. Appointments are not necessary.
November Lunch Menu
Due to supply issues, lunch menu options change frequently based on availability. The most up-to-date menu is below, however, please continue to check the Deer Park Food Services website for the latest information.

In Case You Missed It
Please Help Reduce Tardies To School
I recognize that as the school year rolls on, our ability to get our students up in the morning becomes harder. We need to renew our efforts in the morning to get our students up and out the door. School starts at 8:00, and our teachers are starting the educational process at that time daily. While it may not feel significant to be a couple minutes late, if done daily it will add up to a lot of educational minutes! Thank you for your help!
Champions Program At Amity
Champions offers before and after school programs at Amity Elementary to help working parents. Please see the attached flyer for more information.

Socktober Results
Thank you to everyone that donated to the Amity Youth Service Socktober Drive. As a school, we collected 480 pairs of socks. Another reason why Deer Park is an outstanding district!
Spectrum News Story On Amity STEP Store Program
Amity Elementary's partnership with the University of Cincinnati was recognized this past week on Spectrum News. Spectrum News came to do a story on the STEP store program that we run in grades 3-6. Special thanks to Hudson Siemon, 6th grade student, and Mrs. King for sharing the benefits that this program brings to our students! Both did an awesome job of being interviewed! Please click the link below to see the story!
Recess During Cold Weather
With a return to colder temperatures, please remember to send your child to school with appropriate outdoor attire for recess. We will be going outside whenever the “feels like” temperature is 25 degrees or above. This gives our students time to burn some energy and allows for a time that our students can take a socially distanced mask break. Our recesses are 30 minutes so it is important that our students be comfortable while they are outside.
Holiday Food Assistance Form
The holiday season is quickly approaching. We are beginning to gather the names of families in Deer Park who, due to financial need, would appreciate holiday food assistance. If your family is in financial need and would like to be on the list to receive support this Christmas, complete the information below and return the form to any district school building as soon as possible.
Mask Reminder
Just a reminder to check with your child about having a mask before coming to school in the morning. We need to recommit to this routine to help limit how many masks we are handing out each morning. We realize there's going to be that rushed morning which one is forgotten, and we have you covered. We just need your help in cutting down on the number of students coming everyday without a mask. Thank you!
Attendance
Please remember to call our attendance line (513-891-2414) or email Betty Jung (jung.b@dpccsd.org), our attendance secretary, by 9AM if your student is going to be out.
This is especially important with the number of people that are either required to quarantine by the health department, or quarantining on their own accord. We need to be aware of these situations outside of school so that we can appropriately mark the attendance and provide guidance from the district if necessary.
Thanks for all your help!
School Nurse
Moving forward, all student COVID-19 cases occurring outside of school hours (evenings/weekends) should be submitted in one of the following ways:
A district nurse or administrator will reach out within 24 hours of the reported case to collect further details.
