The Amity Weekly Minute: April 24, 2022

Amity Elementary

What's New?

From the Desk of Mr. Drouhard

Dear Amity Families,

It is another big week at Amity Elementary! Our students in grades 3-6 will be taking their final Ohio State Test of the year on Tuesday and Wednesday. We are excited to see how much our students know in math for 3rd, 4th, and 6th grade and Science for 5th grade! Please have them rested and ready to go on Tuesday!

We will also be traveling to Crawford Auditorium, at Deer Park High School, to see the dress rehearsal for Parker’s on Thursday afternoon. This will be the first time seeing the show for many of our students! We look forward to seeing the many talents of our former Amity students!

Take Care,

Josh

AP Corner

On Monday our preschool through second grade students enjoyed the performance of The Little Mermaid presented by Playhouse in the Park. They were amazing audience members and asked some great questions at the end.

5th graders have Math testing this week!

Students in grades 3-6 are gearing up for the state AIR assessment. This is an opportunity for students to show all that they know and demonstrate all of the hard work that they have put in this school year! It is very important that students are well rested and have a good breakfast, especially on testing days.

Please see the dates below for testing:

  • April 26th (Tuesday) and April 27th (Wednesday)-3rd, 4th, 6th Grade Math; 5th Grade Science

6th Grade Social Update- Change Of Calendar Date

Each year the PTO sponsors a dance for the 6th grade students, as a celebration of the transition from Elementary to the Jr. High. This year the 6th grade social is scheduled for Friday, May 13th from 7:00pm - 9:00pm at Amity Elementary. (This date is different from the printed district calendars passed out in August.) Be on the lookout for more details to come home!

Please Help Reduce Tardies To School

I recognize that as the school year rolls on, our ability to get our students up in the morning becomes harder. We need to renew our efforts in the morning to get our students up and out the door. School starts at 8:00, and our teachers are starting the educational process at that time daily. While it may not feel significant to be a couple minutes late, if done daily it will add up to a lot of educational minutes! Thank you for your help!

Champions Program At Amity

Champions offers before and after school programs at Amity Elementary to help working parents. Please see the attached flier for more information.

Attendance

Please remember to call our attendance line (513-891-2414) or email Betty Jung (jung.b@dpccsd.org), our attendance secretary, by 9AM if your student is going to be out.

This is especially important with the number of people that are either required to quarantine by the health department, or quarantining on their own accord. We need to be aware of these situations outside of school so that we can appropriately mark the attendance and provide guidance from the district if necessary.

Thanks for all your help!
