A Message from the Principal
Hello Deer Park Families! Happy Sunday!
We have had a great first week of school! It has been wonderful getting to know your kids and having them in school! We had our first Deer Park Senior Retreat on Tuesday, focusing on six elements of leadership and we have discovered that we have some outstanding leaders in this class. There is more information and some great photos in our Building Spotlight section below. I am so excited to work with the Class of 2023 this year.
I also want to brag on our 7th graders and their transition to Jr./Sr. High School. They have come in like they have been here all along! They have a lot of personality and are so much fun to be around. It is going to be a great school year and we look forward to partnering with you so that all of our kids no matter what grade can have a great year and be successful.
John Vander Meer
Principal
Deer Park Jr./Sr. High School
Building Spotlight
To open the school year, the Deer Park High School Class of 2023 visited Camp Kern, as a group, for leadership training. Working with Cincinnati Rise Up, the field trip included lessons in leadership, trust, team building, and working together. It was a tremendous event to kick off the year for our Seniors! Even Deer Park Superintendent Jay Phillips got in on the action!

PSAT Information for Sophomores and Juniors
If you are interested in taking the PSAT, please sign up at the counseling office. If your student needs accommodations, the deadline is August 23rd; otherwise the deadline for registration is September 9th.
The PSAT will take place at the high school on Wednesday, October 12th.
Coffee with The Administrators
We want to know what you think and what your questions are. Starting in September we will have one night a month where you can meet with us and ask questions or learn more about the different things going on at the Jr./Sr. High School. Sometimes we will bring in experts on specific topics and sometimes it will be more question and answer. We will let you know when our September night will be and hope to see you there.
Bike Racks Needed
We are noticing a lot of students riding their bikes to school, which is great. But we are in need two more bike racks so that all kids can safely lock their bikes during the school day. If anyone is interested in donating, please email me at vandermeer.j@dpccsd.org.

In other words, teachers will provide information about what you need for their class on the first day of school. All students should plan to bring a notebook and something to write with on the first day.
Schoology and FinalForms
Please be sure your FinalForms are updated prior to your child starting school, as mentioned above, before receiving his/her Chromebook. Please check your previously entered information for accuracy. You may click here to access the forms and get started.
Secondly, as a reminder, teachers use Schoology to keep grades and assignments up to date. Schoology’s platform offers a tremendous amount of information in a user-friendly version. You will be able to communicate with your child’s teachers and check homework and grades through Schoology. If you need your Schoology login information, please contact the main office at 513-891-0010.
